The region

The Travertine Noce stone is mostly extracted in the province of Denizli. The city was formerly known as Denizli Ladik, meaning "Laodicaea on the sea/lake", but the town is not on the coast. The name developed through several spellings and may have referred to the abundance of underground water sources or the city's location on the way to western Turkey's lakes region nearby.

The area has been occupied since prehistoric times, there were important ancient Greek and Roman towns nearby, which persisted through the Byzantine period.


However, the Denizli province is mostly known for the Pamukkale, meaning "cotton castle" in Turkish. This is a natural site in Turkey and contains hot springs and travertines, terraces of carbonate minerals left by the flowing water. Pamukkale's terraces are made of travertine, a sedimentary rock deposited by water from the hot springs.

This area is also knwon for its Travertine quarries, where several variations of this well-known natural stone are extracted.

The marble

The Travertine Noce is mostly extracted in the province of Denizli. There is a considerable number of quarries and some of these quarries can have small to medium dimension. Because of the extreme cold in winter, the quarries are normally closed from December to March, when they restart their activity.

The blocks extracted can have any dimension, according to the needs. And it is estimated that there are large reserves of this stone for future extraction. Despite current high levels of extraction, this is s stone with considerable future.

The Travertine Noce enjoys a comfortable market both in Turkey and internationally. This is a stone that has made its name on the market and that has a considerable demand pretty much everywhere. It is a direct alternative to the well-known Travertine Classic.
